Purchase: After purchasing a "trail horse" we went on the hunt for a good trail saddle that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Many "stop-n-looks" revealed very inexpensive saddles that really didn't have the quality we were looking for OR very expensive saddles that just didn't fit our budget. We came full circle to our local tack & saddle shop called the "Rocking B Cowboy Supply" in Bellville, Texas where we purchased the Martin Trail Saddle. Not content just to buy a saddle and hope that it would fit the horse, we requested the Rocking B hold it until we could bring the horse in for a "fittin'". Well, we did just that and the folks at the Rocking B took plenty of time to help us check the fit and we had a deal. We purchased this saddle for $850.00 two years ago (2-15-2005) and have been extremely pleased with its looks, comfort, function and durability. We periodically give it a good soaking and rub-down with Lexol Leather Conditioner and it looks good as ever.
Likes: The Martin Trail Saddle has the look and feel of quality all the way through to the rawhide wrapped wood tree.
It fit the horse very well and is very comfortable to sit in and ride.
Dislikes: I've owned this saddle for about two years and have not found anything that I didn't like about it.
Quality: Superb, excellent quality. The horse and I both like it a whole lot.
Summary: You can compare this trail saddle's quality to more expensive trail saddles and this saddle will not let you down. Can you spend more on a trail saddle? Yes, but it will not fit and function better than this one.
