Dressage Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Niedersuss
Model: Symphony
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: Bought on ebay for $500. In tack shops used Niedersuss saddles in this condition are priced at about $1000. I had heard about the comfort of Niedersuss saddles and was trying to find something for a hard to fit horse. The saddle was in lightly used condition showing almost no wear.

Likes: The seat has a nice feel to it, soft but not "squishy". The leather is nice, yielding and with a soft "settle in". Knee rolls are medium--won't hold you in place like the larger knee rolls, but certainly help with grip. I ride a lot of posting trot, and this saddle is easy to post in--not like some that beat you to death if you are not always sitting. It's fairly lightweight and easy to lift onto the horse.

Dislikes: Would like to have gotten the girth positioning system, which is on the newer versions but not this one. I don't feel it is as secure as I would like, but I have to concede that I do have a hard-to-fit horse, so it may be his issues more than the saddle. I also think the cut back in the leather on the flap over the pommel and stirrup looks odd--like the saddle isn't finished.

Quality: I didn't find the workmanship or leather quality to match the Stubbens or some of the other German and French saddles. (I believe the Niedersuss is Austrian made)

Summary: Nice and comfortable saddle, leather holds up well, but I would be suspect of the stitching over time.
