Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Thornhill
Model: Germania Klasse
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I paid 1200 for this saddle new off ebay.

Likes: Initially I liked the unit very much. The seat was fairly comfortable and seemed to fit my horse well. Or at least, it fit better than the saddle I had been borrowing.

Dislikes: After riding in the saddle for four weeks I am incredibly dissatisfied. The D ring has fallen off on one side, a seam is ripping out, AND the saddle flaps are different sizes. One is an inch or so longer than the other. I have been unable to find a center in the saddle or keep my stirrups even lengths.

Quality: While the construction at first looked fairly good, after a month the saddle has not worn well. A D ring has fallen off and what I thought were stitching bobbles have come completely out-leaving no seam in places. The saddle halves are very uneven, almost as though one half was made as a large saddle and the other side as a medium.

Summary: Overall, I initially was very pleased with this saddle, however it has not worn well at all and I would NOT recommend this brand to anyone else. I am attempting to get my purchase price refunded and I will be spending it on some other brand. ************Editor's Note: Response from Thornhill Saddlery... The saddle is question had been mistreated. The reviewer told us that her trainer was using the dee ring to lunge her mare. While lunging the dee ring fell off. How the leather was ripped, this could not have happened this way. We have a saddler statement to back us up. The stitching came undone due the riping out of the Dee Ring. This also explains why the panels became uneven. The ripped stitching caused the panels to shift. We took the saddle back and repaired it free of charge. The dealer who sold this saddle to the reviewer was kind enough to re-sell the saddle for her. From the dealer "I am reselling the saddle and I have taken 20 or so pictures and totally examined the saddle from top to bottom and from my perspective it still looks new and I cannot tell a repair was EVER made. The Panels are even and soft as are the knee blocks... the saddle is beautiful and shows NO wear at all!" The Thorhill representative went on to state that they are happy to get feedback from all people, however a review should be written with proper information as not to mislead others who are searching to purchase their next saddle.
