Purchase: I started Cross Country spring of 2004, and needed a quality Protection vest. I have always heard of Tipperary Vest being used by top eventers and show jumpers. I recieved this vests from my parents for christmas in 2003. They had it personalized for me, and the price was around $260-$300 depending on the type of customizing. You can also buy these vests for $217.00 w/o all the customizing colors and such. This vest was bought from Dover saddlery.
Likes: The tipperary eventing vests are the best selling protection vests in the world, so you know they are safe and reliable! My vests fits me perfectly. as there are a lot of options to adjust it to fit to your body perfectly! It has a high level of shock absorbtion. It is made with a mesh Durasport cover. The sides have laces so you can adjust them to have a trimmer less bully fit. A lot of vests that my riding mates own do not have rolled foam collars, and they complain about getting rub burns on there necks after a hard ride, or competition. My tipperary vest has a soft foam rolled collar, that is comfortable even after riding all day competitions. I love how easy my vest is to put on and take off as the front has a zipper. The vest without the customizing options comes in navy, hunter green, black or royal blue. The sizes they carry are S, M, L, and Tall-L. My custom vest is Purple with silver piping and white trim, which looks beautiful against my bay mare. They has so many customizing color options so you and your horse can be one of a kind and stand out.
Dislikes: The price is spendy, but when you are trying to buy something that might save your life in the long run, price does not always matter. For the custom vest, it takes 6-8 weeks delivery.
Quality: This vest is lightweight, but heavyduty at the same time, and it makes me feel safe and comfortable when I am wearing it. Often, I forget i am even wearing it, and it keeps me warmer when riding in the cooler season, which here is Montana means a lot! When you purchase the Custom Eventer, you have the choice of the outside of the vest, which can either be Durasport Nylon, or Micromesh Nylon. You have many options when ordering it for fit, they can make the vest custom according to your size, chest, waist, and spine! Talk about perfect fit!
Summary: I wish I could buy all these vests for my friends, because then I know they would be the safest they could possibly be! I couldn't imagine jumping again without a vest, I feel so secure, and now I have so much more confidence!
