Purchase: I am in Pony Club, I was volunteering for a show to braid and band 20 horse's manes and tails. I knew i needed to purchase a nice kit to use everyday for a week staright, and still be in good enough condition for the following years. I recieved this gift from a friend in pony club, she had purchased one for herself as well, and bought them for $32.90 per kit. She bought these braiding belts from Dover saddlery.
Likes: The belt the kit comes with is heavy, strong nylon, and it is reinforched to hold up to numerous use. It also comes with a quick release closure, because when being around horses I like everything I use to be quick release, that is why I only buy boots with zippers, and leads with panic snaps! This kit comes with razors, spray bottles, brushes, thinning comb, braiding comb, hair clips, scissors, and a braiding needle.
Dislikes: This kit is bulky around your waist, and some horses think it is a "scary monster" when you are on a stool and it is in their face. They also are nervous when they find out that the "meat eating spray bottle" is kept in the belt that is right by their face. The brushes weren't of great quality, and the plastic braiding needle only lasted through 2-4 uses. Everything in the kit is extremely breakable around horses, and is not durable enough for everyday use.
Quality: The belt was made nicely, but the grooming supplies should only be used around a human hair salon.
Summary: I would buy this belt again if I needed a quick last minute replacement. I will try next year to purchase a nicer one, that is more meant to be used around busy show barns. For the at home once a month show rider this kit is good enough.
