Purchase: My husband purchased this Dakota saddle for my birthday through Horse Saddle Shop. Chuck helped us find a tree size that was appropriate for my horse. We were also able to semi customize it. This was a big help. For $790.00 I got the PERFECT saddle for my needs. After spending three and one half hours riding on Labor Day without aching knees we are totally sold on the Dakota 202 fx. My husband ordered one for himself when we returned home from our ride !!! We like the fact that they can be semi-customized. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Dakota to anyone wanting to buy a new saddle. Just contact an authorized dealer and talk to them FIRST about your needs. Download the tree templates from Horse Saddle Shop site...take pictures of them on your horse and then seek advice from someone who knows saddles and fit. Chuck from the Horse Saddle Shop was a big help to us.
Likes: The leather is not stiff and squeaky. The padding in the seat is very comfortable for long rides. Most important, it fit my horse PERFECTLY. At the end of our 3 1/2 hour ride my knees were not aching nor was my back.
Dislikes: The ONLY thing I don't like about this saddle was the waiting for my saddle to arrive. We semi-customized it and I realize it takes time to build a good quality saddle. It was well worth the wait !!!
Quality: This saddle is constructed as well as the higher priced big named saddles. The quality is outstanding. The materials are excellent. It is actually built on the same tree as some of the major brand saddles.
Summary: I don't believe I have ridden a more comfortable saddle nor had one to fit my horse as well as this 202 flex fits. My mare is a very stocky built Paint and she had a perfect sweat pattern after our long ride where before she had dry spots on her withers. I highly recommend the Dakota 202 Flex to anyone wanting a great saddle at a fraction of the cost of the big name saddles.
