Purchase: My old saddle finally "gave out" and I began a saddle hunt. After looking at several saddles, I ended up with a Wintec All Purpose 500. I began dressage lessons in the A/P saddle and decided that if I was going to be serious, I needed to purchase a dressage saddle. At the time I was fortunate to live in the Ocala area to where I had numerous tack stores at my finger tips to look at saddles, sit in them and "test ride" saddles. For practical purposes (like a budget) I found I liked the Wintec Dressage 500 so purchased it. It has been 7 years ago the saddle was purchased and is still going strong! The adjustable gullet is wonderful as I started off riding an Arabian who was narrow and with regular work was able to build him up and just increased the gullet as he increased. Then when my youngster went under saddle (a TB/draft cross) the larger gullets have fit him well.
And then the comfort! I trail ride in the saddle on my "off days" of training. Have also rode on the beach and when I come home, I take a water hose to the saddle and all the salt and sand comes right off! Clean up is a breeze prior to a show and if it is raining... I have no saddle to worry about ruining!
Likes: The changeable gullet is a major help as a horse changes in size as they are worked more. The comfort of the saddle is better than a lot of others around the same price. Cleaning is simple and straight forward. Great saddle to have in the barn!
Dislikes: In 7 years I have had to change the billet straps twice (getting ready to have to have them changed for a 3rd time). But I do ride 3 to 5 days a week, so over the last 7 years, my saddle has had a lot of riding done in it.
Quality: Outstanding construction. Accidentally laid something sharp on the saddle and it put an dent in the "leather" (did not cut it, but it was CLOSE). Now, you cannot see where the item was laid. The "leather" on my saddle looks almost new, no fading, stains nothing. Most people find it hard to believe it is 7 years old.
Summary: Great saddle at a great price! If you hate to clean tack and want a saddle you can use daily and not worry about, this is the one!
