Purchase: I purchased this Ascot saddle at Frontier Equestrian on Ebay for 225.00 plus shipping. At first glance it looks like a nice saddle, but the stirrup leathers, and billet straps are made of an incredibly cheap and in my opinion dangerous leather. I replaced the stirrup leathers immediately, but the billet straps started to tear after the third ride and will require the help of a saddle repair specialist which I don't think will be worth the effort. While the saddle has a quite wide tree up front it does get narrow in the channel which will create sore loin area. I have a mutton withered arabian who has been through eight saddle trying to find the right fit. The Ascot seemed to fit well, but if I ride more than one or two days in a row I find he starts to buck and get fretful. When I unsaddle and palpate his back he winces when I get to the loin area. If considering this saddle for price issues I recommend you keep looking. It is not worth your horses back getting sore or endangering yourself with the cheap billet straps.
Likes: It looks nice and has a nice deep secure seat. Price.
Dislikes: The incredibly cheap billet straps and stirrup leathers are dangerous. Also the hardware is rusting.
