Purchase: I've bought several Hamilton Halters in my time from local tack shops. Even won one in a silent auction!
Likes: These halters are tough! They last and don't break! My favorite was a forest green with leather accents that really set off my horse's good looks. Also, that particular model had an adjustment under the horse's chin area that was very handy and helped fit the halter better.
Dislikes: I never liked the hardware that you use to attach the bridle when you put it on, take it off your horse. These snaps can be a pain to open. I much prefer styles I've seen (and bought) on other halters.
Also, as for the leash, round, nylon or cotton rope leashes are much easier on the hands than the flat nylon style.
Quality: As mentioned above, you can't kill a Hamilton halter! They've lasted through generations of babies at the barn where I am.
Summary: Apart from the hardware, these are great products.
