Purchase: Purchased this customized Aussie saddle from Cariboo Outback Saddles & Supplies in Canada (distributor for Down Under Saddle Supply in the US). I paid the advertised price plus a wee bit more for the customized features I wanted. I needed a safe, secure, comfortable trail saddle to use in different terrains. From wooded trails to hilly ravines to open fields.
Likes: I guess I could write a book...I like everything about this saddle! It is safe(poleys and monkey bar), secure(saddle seat to my specifications) and comfortable ( western fenders added, as well as it is built on an endurance tree). And it saved me from tumbling off on a few occasions(not so nice skunks on the trail, and a territorial hawk who likes nothing more than to dive at your head and the horse's head! Galloping on a bucking horse is no fun!)
Dislikes: Not applicable!
Quality: Solid, beautifully stitched, genuine sheepskin lining, excellent leather. The first day I rode in it, it felt broken in.
The saddle fit is great, I use it on two different horse backs( flat back and more pointed back) with no problems. The leather is easy to maintain as it was well prepared and oiled before I got it. The black leather is holding up very well, keeps looking brand new. So comfortable, that I could sit in it for days.
Summary: Well, for sure, worth every penny paid for. And the saddle will last me a lifetime. The folks @ Cariboo are exceedingly helpful pre and post purchase. I was kind of uneasy ordering a handmade Aussie saddle from Australia, never having seen the real thing. However, the final product is exactly what I ordered! I would definitely deal with these folks again!
