Purchase: I bought this helmet in a small northern alberta town called Barrhead, at a place called The Backforty. I was in there looking for deals on clothing items for 4-H when i stumbled(literally) acros this box on the floor. Inside was This gorgeous velvet show helmet that just happened to be in my size. I glanced fearfully at the tag, and to my disbeleif, it only cost $75. That sealed the deal. I begged my mom to buy the helmet for me, and after much deliberation she did. My old helmet was an ugly old schooling helmet, and now i could stop drooliong over the Dover and Apple Saddlery magazines helmets, as I now had my own!
Likes: I really like this helmet to ride in; in all weathers. The phantom flow venting keeps my head cool in hot temperatures. I ride alot in the winter, and the velvet provides a a bit more warmth.The english leather chinstrap is quite comfortable, and doesn't chafe like the nylon ones do behind the ears. It looks classy with the black velvet and inverted bow. The nice thing about this helmet, is that it come in the standard sizes, pus oval, around, etc for varius head shapes. It really makes for a comfortable fit. Of course, teh classy look makes a stiking appearance in the show ring.
Dislikes: the one thing i dislike is all the care thats needed to preserve the velvet. I now own a waterproof cover, sdustcover, and insulated winter cover just to make sure the velevet stays nice. But its worth it to preserve to look of the helmet for show days!!
Quality: This helmet is very well constructed. the english leather harness looks and feels nice, and the phantom flow venting helps keep your head cool. The sating hair net/cover on the inside makes the whole unit look extra classy. The velvet on the outside is extremely nice and looks great in the show ring. So far this helmets quality has astounded me.
Summary: This is a great helmet that I'd recommend to anyone. It can be pretty pricey normmaly, but its worth the cost. My motto is look good, ride good, and this helmet makes me feel like a pro! Hopefully I can soon ride like a pro! Its great for all levels of riders and shows.
