Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Stubben
Model: Genesis Deluxe
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I began the hunt for a new jumping saddle because I was having fit problems (and my horse was too!) with my old Wintec Close Contact. No amount of tweaking made it sit properly on my horse, and my legs had grown to the point that my knees stuck over the front of the knee rolls of the old saddle! After trying the Genesis (warmed up followed by a jumping lesson in it) I had to have it! I paid AU$3440.

Likes: Excellent quality and comfort for all parties! My Genesis has taken me round cross country courses, showjumping courses and trail rides; and always scrubs up looking new again. A slightly deeper seat than most jumping saddles, with supportive knee rolls in front and behind the knee. Forward cut enough for the long-legged rider. Seems to fit my high-withered older TB extremely well- better than anything else I've been able to find. It will last me a lifetime!

Dislikes: Unfortunately the gullet isn't adjustable (standard Stubben feature) because of the super tough material used to make the tree. Also the seat is quite hard, a quality that I've only ever noticed when I've been in the saddle for a couple of hours (a clinic or long trail ride with lots of walking). Easily remedied using a sheepskin seat-saved.

Quality: Excellent! See "likes" for more detail.

Summary: I would buy another in a second.... if I had the money! It's a serious saddle for someone who is looking for a long-term investment. You really do get what you pay for, however, and (to add yet another cliche) it's worth every cent!
