Purchase: Bought online from Dover Saddlery during their summer sale 2003 for $1299 (saddle only). Matching leathers were $119. Regular Dover price is $1495.
Likes: The seat, padded flap, and knee rolls of the saddle are made of very soft French leather, so the saddle is immediately comfortable and broke in quickly. The saddle has a narrow twist, which I like. The pommel is cut back a bit, and is fairly high off the horse's back which means that the saddle fits my high-withered TB perfectly.
Dislikes: The "matching" leathers sold by Dover don't quite match. The photo makes them seem an exact match to the color of the seat/padded flaps, but they aren't. They're more Newmarket than the saddle is.
Also, I have not been able to find out much about the saddle online, like who the manufacturer is (the best I've gotten is "handmade by a Belgian saddlemaker") or what the tree design is.
Quality: I have had the saddle for about 3 months. It seems of very high quality, both in leather and workmanship. I've had several people see/touch/hold the saddle and remark that it is really nice, including the woman at a local tack shop who is in charge of saddles there. (They don't sell the BdH).
The saddle does seem to be of really good quality, and is very comfortable.
Summary: I haven't had it very long, so much remains to be seen, but I love this saddle. I'm not sure if it's really worth the official list price of $2395, but I think it was a real bargain at $1299.
