Purchase: Bought these at a local tack auction about 3 years ago. I have seen them online for $38.50.
Likes: They are a good medium ground between splint boots and full out sports medicine boots. They have more coverage than splint boots and the entire inside is lined with PVC to absorb strikes from misplaced legs. They don't have any metal hardware so they can go directly into the washing machine.
Dislikes: They only come in 3 sizes-pony, horse, and warmblood. The horse size I have tends to be just a tad big for my 15.2 hand paint horse, and I doubt she is small enough to wear a pony side. Because of this, they tend to slip if not applied carefully.
Quality: Seems to be good. The base is neoprene so you can stretch them a little to get a snug fit. The straps are velcro and there is no metal on them. I've used them and abused them over the years, and besides the neoprene being stained a little red from a red clay arena, they look good. The neoprene is starting to break down a little now, but I expect this with their age.
Summary: If you want splint boots for protection these are a better alternative. I am a western rider so I have no clue what a "Brushing Boot" really is, but they work well for me. I use them to protect the legs in case my horse hits herself. If you have a smaller horse, these may not fit you well. I believe they are a UK product, so they run large like all UK products tend to do!
