Purchase: I bought this saddle online at Action Rider Tack. I chose this saddle because I discovered that my old saddle was too narrow and the had trouble finding a saddle that worked. My Paint horse is both wide and short-backed and it was a hard search to find a saddle that fit. With the Barefoot saddle I liked the idea that while riding you could feel the horse's movement, comparable to riding bareback. I paid $749.00 for the saddle plus the special pad, etc.
Likes: I found that the saddle is more stable farther forward than usual. Because the saddle is flexible, it allows for the shoulder to move underneath. I liked the comfort of the saddle and how light-weight it is. My horse likes it too- NO bucking or crow-hopping while riding! I like that I feel balanced and in-tune with my horse's movement. I also like how the saddle looks, kind of western crossed with english and endurance, very original!
Dislikes: The durability of the nubuck suede leather is somewhat disappointing. The areas that get the most wear like where your legs are, start getting smooth very quickly. But this really is not a problem, as it doesn't affect performance.
Quality: I haven't had any problems with quality. Everything seems sturdy and reliable and I love how light the saddle is! But like I said the leather could be more durable.
Summary: I feel like I purchased a quality new saddle at an affordable price. After spending so many months being let down by other saddles... I can honestly say that I am very happy with my choice!
