Purchase: I bought two of these on sale at TSC for $5.88 each, mostly because they were on sale and it never hurts to have a nice halter. They looked like a decent quality, and usually for $5.88 halters are really cheap.
Likes: This is a really nice halter. The craftsmanship and brass ranks up there with Hamilton halters, only they have two advantages; one is their price, normally about $6 cheaper, and the second is the one thing I hate about Hamilton halters-they don't have the adjustable chin, which I never use and which gets in the way of the lead rope ring, requiring the use of two hands for me to attach a lead rope. It is a durable, strong nylon halter that is not the cheap stuff that you normally buy if you're not buying a Hamilton.
Dislikes: The colors! I mean, contrasting colors? I bought pink and purple, and also a pink and teal. Yes, it is unique so nobody will steal your halter. But as a personal preference, I prefer a single solid color.
Quality: As I mentioned, these rank up there with the Hamilton halters, and I would place them above Stockmen's. It is a soft, pliable, heavy-duty nylon halter with brass hardware that fits the horses great. Mine haven't broken.
Summary: A good alternative to Hamilton if you want quality but not the price of Hamiltons' retail. I like the fact that there is not an adjustable chin, which was my biggest complaint against Hamilton. If your horse has an odd shaped head, perhaps the adjust ability is useful and this halter is not the one for you, but for most horses, a non-adjusting chin fits fine, is safer on his face, there is less to break, and can get in the way. So this is a way to have a stylish and functional nylon halter without the big price tag and unnecessary chin adjustment.
