Purchase: The saddle was ordered to fit my extra wide draft cross horse. Considering that other saddles rubbed at the withers and could not be adjusted to fit, the Duett Foxhunter seemed to be the only alternative.
The saddle was ordered from an independent tack shop. Retail and purchase price was $1200.
Likes: The seat is comfortable and deep giving a feeling of both comfort and safety.
Dislikes: The leather is thick and is not what I would consider a good quality for a saddle costing this much, and the seat is coated with a substance that peels.
The dye used on the flaps rubs off easily.
The "D" rings and stirrup bars are ill placed, and the saddle squeaks.
Quality: The saddle tree is adequate for my horse, but the quality of the leathers and the craftsmanship does not reflect the cost.
Summary: The saddle tree is adequate for my horse, and, as stated, the seat is deep and comfortable. The quality and craftsmanship of a saddle retailing for $1200. is absent.
