Likes: I bought this for my husband, who REFUSES to wear a helmet and had REFUSED up until I MADE him try on the Tipperary to wear a safety vest. This man will not listen to ANYONE, and has not budged in YEARS in spite of all the stories you hear about accidents to folks who don't use helmets (I NEVER ride a step without a helmet and a vest). The Tipperary vest LOOKS COOL to my over 40 sweetie, and he wears it EVERYWHERE. He says it keeps him warm, and he likes all the ladies telling him how adorable, sweet, sexy he looks with it. Personally, I think it acts somewhat as a tummy-holder-inner, which may add to its appeal for him (he does look smashing in it). However, WHO CARES WHY he likes it - he actually now wears it EVERY TIME he rides and for 95% of ground work (it is COLD here now) with the horses. As far as I am concerned, it is worth its weight in GOLD.
Dislikes: The price was a bit scary, but if you figure out cost-per-ride, it drops quickly (assuming you wear it with EVERY ride).
Quality: EXCELLENT quality. I was amazed at the craftsmanship and details. He has "worn-the-heck-out-of-it" and it appears to be very hard to kill. Not a mark on it, and he is not exactly "gentle" with his equipment.
Summary: I bought this as a gift and MADE him try it on, without telling me I was buying it. Had I told him I was getting a vest for him he would have gone NUCLEAR. However, he LOVES the look and feel of the vest, and if you have a similar "anti-safety" guy or gal in your home, this may be the perfect gift as it combines saftey, quality and STUNNING good looks (my husband rides Western, now, not English) for any rider. No sense owning safety gear if your loved ones won't wear it. Now... where is a good looking helmet to go with this that he will wear too?
