Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Tad Coffin
Model: A5 - 17.5
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle used at a multi-day horse camp/clinic in Missouri from a fellow camper in June, 2007. I paid just under 3K. It also included a Tad Coffin leather pad.

Likes: This saddle puts you where you need to be over fences - no effort needed. I was a little concerned at first that the seat was not as deep as the saddle I had been riding in, but need not have worried. I got used to it within a week. Additionally, the barn owner tried it on 2 of her horses - a TB and a Draft/Morgan cross and it fit both of them as well. They seem to hold their value quite well, but can be difficult to find as indicated by my searching all over the internet for a used one.

Dislikes: So far, I have not found anything about this saddle I don't like. I have wondered why they only make one tree width, however.

Quality: The design, engineering and quality of these saddles is wonderful. The available leather pads enable the saddle to fit a wider range of horses.

Summary: I felt very lucky to find a saddle of this quality in such good shape at a good price. As with all saddles, I can give you a wonderful recommendation, but it's up to you to try it to see if it works for you. If you need a jumping saddle, this could be the one for you. Saddles are such a 'personal' type of purchase. Good luck finding yours!
