Likes: I imported Curly horses to Germany, and due to a time crunch I got stuck buying Western saddles I did not have a chance to try out on the horses "prior to". The breeder (Sunnybrook Stables) did an EXCELLENT job picking out our saddles and "eyeballing" the fit for our 2 horses. However, we completely spaced out saddle pads in the rush, and ended up buying run-of-the-mill pads and blankets that turned out to be HORRIBLE. Sweaty, slippy, bulky, stinky, you name it. The local "Western experts" here told us neither saddle fit, that we would HAVE to have custom saddles made for BOTH horses (in Germany, now, so imagine the cost here for custom Western saddles). Nobodies fool, I surfed around, read a thousand reviews and bought a pad for my husband's horse (who actually came to us with white hairs in his back from his previous saddle). He went INSTANTLY from dancing away from his blanket to just standing there and getting saddled up. He went from sweating like a fiend to having an almost totally dry back. His saddle FITS. I was so amazed I wanted a pad for the "baby horse" too, and Equipedic traded numerous emails with me before we decided he needed an endurance pad (for his size), not a Western pad. GREAT service from the Equipedic folks! The baby horse now rounds better, does not nip at his sides when I cinch him up and also does not sweat under the pad like he did under his "el cheapo" pad and blanket. Voila! Happy horses! Happy Riders!
Dislikes: OK, again the price is staggering, but the inner space age material pads can be removed and the cover washed, and the quality is excellent, so I don't plan to have to buy pads for a LONG time. Oh, and the saddles fit FINE.
Quality: Again, excellent materials and construction. You get what you pay for. Space age foam stuff (OK y'all, the details are on the website) molds to your horse's back and is temperature sensitive. It does not pack down, the pads do not slip and the horses do not sweat under them like under other pads. I finally learned how to "feel" my horse's back once I didn't have too bulky pads blocking things up. He moves, I can feel it!
Summary: Bottom line - before I EVER listen to someone tell me a saddle does not fit, I'll check the pad. These pads cannot take an ill-fitting saddle and make it "fit", but they certainly solved the problems our too bulky and nylon/polyester sweat-monster pads/blankets had created.
