Purchase: Purchased on e-bay used with fittings for $350. Needed a 16 inch saddle for my daughter that offered some security- to teach her riding skills on the flat.
Likes: This saddle, like other Stubbens, seems to fit everything you put it on. It is wool flocked so can be adjusted. I liked the fact that it is a deeper seat with knee rolls and suede knee pads for security. When I went from an economy 14 inch saddle to this one I immediately noticed that this saddle provides perfect balance when my daughter is posting. Stubbens seem to put your leg in the perfect position for balance. The construction is simply bombproof.
Dislikes: Really nothing not to like. It is a darker two tone color and the leather is high quality that will last forever. I'd rather not have the suede as it gets discolored but thats a small sacrifice for the 'grip' it provides.
Quality: As mentioned the saddle is built like a tank. It's nice to see Stubben puts the same effort into the kids saddles as it does the adults. It even has a 4th billet for the round ponies. This is the newer 'blue dot' version and the seat has some cushion. I would like to see stubben address that as even though my Siegfreid CS has the cushion, it is still much firmer than my County.
Summary: There are a lot of economy starter saddles out there but really if you are serious about teaching yourself or your child to ride you have to invest in one that is built well, providing the balance and leg position. It is hard to achieve that when your leg is slipping around because you can't find that sweet spot- especially when you are learning and don't know what it feels like! I am very satisfied with this saddle
