Purchase: I bought the Simple Boots to transition my horse from shoes to completely barefoot. I'd only tried easyboots before, and knew I needed something different. I got the Simple Boots from kv vet supply for $99.99, but I didn't get the pastern wraps.
Likes: These boots were so easy to put on! I worried over the sizing, since my horse's feet seemed to be right at a questionable area between two sizes. I got the bigger size, and haven't been sorry. I've never lost one. I love the drain holes, since we often cross water on our trail rides. I've never had them twist at all. I love the inner ledge that lifts the foot off the bottom of the boots. We walk, trot, canter, and even gallop in them with no problems (after the initial adjustment period).
Dislikes: The keepers are more difficult as the boots wear (say, after a couple of hundred miles), since the straps are limp and stretched. I don't especially like how open the boot is at the top, but then I didn't get the pastern wraps. I'd also like to get more mileage out of them.
Quality: I've probably put 600 miles on mine, over rocks, through sand, water and mud. For the price, I think they've stood up remarkably well. The back stitching did come off on one, but the company offered to reimburse me the cost of having it restitched. My horse tends to not pick up his feet all the way (the boots are not the cause, here) and one of the boots has worn through at the toe because of this.
Summary: I really do love these boots! It's such a relief to be able to go on a several hour trail ride and know that I won't be spending time looking for lost boots! I love the velcro flap closure. I would like to get a few more miles out of them, but then I do ride through some rugged terrain. I've only had these on front feet, not sure how they'd fit hind feet.
