Purchase: I received a bonus from work which I promised myself I would use to purchase a new saddle (my other saddle is a Collegiate Monarch, 13 years old, bought new and used hard) great saddle but I was ready to move up) I sat in a dozen saddles at a tack store, and found this one to give me the best balance. It was new $1995.
Likes: I didn't feel like I had to fight the saddle to be centered; didn't feel like I was tipped to far forward or too far back, and my leg draped very naturally. Being very long in the thigh, I found that the saddle flaps felt long and comfortable, and my knee didn't feel like it was "crawling" over the front of the knee roll. It is lightweight, beautifully constructed and the leather is wonderful. I like the billet loop through the bottom of the saddle flap; keeps it conformed to the horse and allows for a nice close contact feel.
Dislikes: At this point I cannot think of anything that I don't like about this saddle, other than I wish it hadn't cost that much, but you pay for the quality, in most cases.
Quality: Very well constructed, high quality leather. Nice balance, fits my horse well.
Summary: It has been 13 years since I bought a new saddle, and while I knew I would have a bit of sticker shock, I was thrilled I found something so fast that both my horse and myself were happy with. Great balance, great fit, great looking saddle. With so many on the market, I really thought it would be a long and painful process, and thanks to the County, it wasn't.
