Purchase: I bought this online used from a woman several years back. I paid $75 (plus shipping) for it barely used with a brass snaffle bit and matching reins. It runs about $60 for the flash bridle alone.
Likes: It is a lovely color, and I really like the brass. It is an excellent show bridle because it stands out. The bit attachments are easy to get on and off. It looks great with a brass colored bit and aussie stirrup irons. It looks especially good on darker horses and in photographs. It appears to be a much nicer bridle than it actually is. For the price, it is awesome, and the flash fits well and is quite thin, not overly fat like many.
Dislikes: Brass can be hard to match, which means your bit is going to be pretty expensive. It is not padded as well as it could be, and the brass parts actually scratch the leather when I adjust it or put it on. The scratches rub out, but who wants to rub out scratches before entering a class?
Quality: This is a moderate to modest quality leather, much like you find on Paris Tack products. It is not as nice as Courbette but is better than cheap tack like Derby Originals or some of Raleigh's cheaper bridles. The stitching is even and the dye doesn't come off and is also even. The browband is quite pretty, but none of the bridle is padded.
Summary: This is a great bridle if you want to stand out. It is not padded so is not the most top of the line, but the gold looks great on dark horses and the bridle is easy to take apart and put back together. A good bridle for the money.
