1200D Ripstop Turnout Sheet
Horsewear

Manufacturer: Defender
Model: 1200D Ripstop Turnout Sheet
Category: Horsewear

Purchase: I was looking for rain protection for my senior horse. I just got a new catalog from the resurrected State Line Tack. The website said there was a 10% discount and free shipping. I tried to order but none of my items were available. The next day I got Country Supply catalog and ordered the sheet for $59.99 no shipping charge.

Likes: My horse is difficult to fit as he has a sway back and is narrow necked and chested with a round belly (think forward pointing pear). The sheet hasn't caused any rubs and has stayed in place through rolls and lying down. He has been dry every rainy day when I took it off to groom him. The scarlet color is great now that it is deer season. His pasture pals haven't ripped it (they have ripped all his other clothing and halters playing halter/blanket tag).

Dislikes: The spring came out of one of the leg strap buckles. I went down to the hardware store and fixed it.

Quality: I think this is a very well constructed sheet for the price. I thought the hardware on the cross surcingles looked cheap but it works better than what his other clothing has. (Sometimes he undid the t-fasteners on his other clothing). No sheet can fit every shape horse well but this one works fine for mine.

Summary: I like that I can undo the surcingles from either side and because they are clips like on a dog collar they stay buckled better than the t-fasteners of other blankets. I can remove them entirely for washing. The mesh lining leaves my horses coat looking good and gives a little insulation value without getting hot. This horse is very old (sire died at 18, dam died at 15, horse is in his 30's with no teeth left) and I didn't want to spend a fortune on clothing but due to his swayback his old sheet was rubbing. I didn't want him to be the only one in the barn but he doesn't regulate his temperature as well, especially after he gets wet and I can't guarantee I can get him in for every sprinkle. He will have a home with me until he gets uncomfortable. Now he is out with his buddies being a horse.
