Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Beval
Model: Butet
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I don't personally have this saddle, but my trainer has this saddle, and I've ridden in it numerous times, schooling, in lessons, and at shows, on many different horses. She bought it directly new from Beval. She bought it as her main saddle to ride in. She paid around 3,100 for it new from Beval.

Likes: This saddle is very comfortable, to start with. It's got a cushiony seat, but you can still feel your horse moving under it, it doesn't block your horse out. It broke in very easily and is made of great leather! I have a problem of tipping/leaning forward in the two-point, but with this saddle it was very easy to get into a good, centered, and balanced position. I also feel it puts my leg in a good position, not forcing it there, but you feel comfortable putting your leg there naturally on a number of different horses. I've ridden, small thin horses, large round horses, large slab-sided horses, and my leg found a correct, and comfortable spot on all of them. And it's great for jumping. I love this saddle.

Dislikes: This may sound weird, but it's true, there isn't anything I dislike about this saddle. Except maybe that the leather is so soft, and supple, I'd be afraid to scratch it.

Quality: It is made in France, of top quality leather (said to be the best you can buy) You can choose from a selection of flap sizes and between two different seat depths, flat or deep. (the one I rode in was deep I believe) And you can choose from a large selection of tree sizes.

Summary: I would personally suggest the Butet to anyone looking for a good saddle to last a long time, and willing to spend good money on it. It's one of my favorites. One of Beval's best!
