Purchase: I purchased this pad from Four Winds Saddle Tack Store on the web. I wanted a saddle pad that would be comfortable for both myself and my horse for trail riding. It was on sale for $62.50, retails for $70.
Likes: This pad is very easy to clean, and does protect the horse's back. There is a space that travels the length of the spine, allowing for airflow in that area.
Dislikes: This pad slips every time I'm mounting. I've had to resort to either having someone hold the off-side stirrup or using a mounting block. Also, it is supposed to breathe and provide a sweat wicking quality. It definitely does neither of those things. Other than the space on my horse's spine, he is drenched in sweat every time I use this pad, even for a light ride on a cool day.
Quality: This pad is 3/4" neoprene foam bottom, leather reinforcements at cut-back, leather along spine and wear leathers, felt top, and is contoured. The foam is failing badly near his withers, and I have only about 25 hours of riding on it. The stitching is also failing where the spine leather holds the foam.
Summary: This pad is a big disappointment. It simply isn't holding up and does not do the things that were promised.
