Purchase: I purchased my half chaps about 2 years ago at a local tack shop because I needed new half chaps. I paid around $80 for them, new.
Likes: They are easy to put on and off, they have held up great! They are comfortable to ride in, I like them. They tood a while to wear in, very good!
Dislikes: I have read complaints about them stretching too much, well I have the opposite problem, mine won't stretch, they fit fine around my calf, and height wise, but they won't zip all the way down, and when I do take the (long) time and (hard) effort to zip them all the way (or almost) the snap doesn't even reach across. Your probably wondering why I didn't return them. I figured they'd stretch out, but they haven't. And I can still ride in them, so i'm not going to by a new pair just yet. And since they don't snap, if I ride for a long time, they'll start to come unzipped. Also, if you wear them all day, they start to pinch you behind the knee. And they do start turning on you, so the extra layer of suede is on your shins, and the pleated, "stretchy" part is on the inside of your calf, and the zipper is practically on the back of your calf. And I have gotten rubs while wearing them!
Quality: They are made of suede, in black or brown, with a pleated, seude "stretchy" patch behind your leg. The zipper has held up very well. (and i can't use the snap, so I wouldn't know) They have a double layered suede on the inside of your calf and pleated "stretchy" patch on the front of your ankle.
Summary: Overall, they've done a good job, but I think other chaps could have been better. Though, I will probably buy another pair of Ariat All-Around, making sure they fit properly for my next pair. Ariat is a good brand. I rated tehm 3 because I think that the zipping problem may have just been my defective pair, but who knows. It may happen to you!
