Purchase: I purchased the bit online from Chicks Saddlery for $45. I bought the bit for my paint horse that does like the nutcracker action of jointed bits. But, I still needed a way to get him to move be more supple laterally.
Likes: I liked that the D rings of the bits move, while the ring attached to the headstall stays still. This allows for lateral rein cues without the ring attached to the headstall jabbing the horse in the side of face. I attached the reins to the bit to apply medium leverage, but still was able to move his head side to side well, without my horse complaining.
Dislikes: Copper inlays would nice. I purchased the sweet mouthpiece, since it's new I'm still waiting for it to rust. Sometimes the curb chain I'm using interferes with the movement of D ring.
Quality: The bit has good weight to it. The D ring movement is good. Overall a real nice bit.
Summary: The bit is very versatile because it has 4 different places to attach the reins to achieve different levels of leverage. The bit is designed to effectively move your horses head laterally and vertically without pain. The bit does as advertised!!
