The CorrecTOR Saddle Pad
Western Saddle Fittings/Pads
Manufacturer: Len Brown
Model: The CorrecTOR Saddle Pad
Category: Western Saddle Fittings/Pads
Purchase: After trying a variety of pads and solutions for my sore-backed-buck-at-the-lope mare, I waded through the inventor's website, finally just called him and got his recommendation-then put the order through online. Delivery was prompt. I paid $350, and intend to make it last!
Likes: Such a simple looking invention, but with the envelope pad, sooo easy to add shims to level the saddle. Just gotta follow the directions and line everything up right (not that hard really), then using his leaning method cinching up tight is a cinch! No need for another person to hold the stirrup on the other side, and my horse doesn't have to catch her balance as I mount. WOW! No more buck and lots more engagement! No slip when the saddle is cinched tight enough. The white hairs on her back from saddle damage are almost all gone, as her back heals.
Dislikes: I got the Pro-E version of the envelope pad, shaped for barrel saddles, so I could switch back and forth between English and Aussie and Western with one pad. I wish I had gotten a squared one with the navajo cover. I don't like how the felt cover on the PRO E pills with friction. I found it hard to get it cinched tightly enough with the english saddle. (have to use NON-elastic girth btw) With a different girth it might be easier.
Quality: The CorrecTOR itself is a flimsy looking item, but holds up quite well. I leave it in my envelope pad (really the only way to go), and so far, nothing has failed or given way (about 50 hrs. riding time so far)
Summary: If your horse does not like to be saddled, mounted, seems one-sided, or sore backed, the CorrecTOR may well be for you. I use it on a medium-low withered QH and a high withered TB- following the instructions by Mr. Brown, I have great results- adjust the shims for saddle leveling, cinch up tight, and happy trails, arenas, patterns, rollbacks, and jumps. My horses are so much more fun now that the saddles are not soring their backs!
