Purchase: I bought this mohair cinch on eBay from Akers Ranch for $95.00. I had admired these beautiful handmade mohair cinches, with the attached shoo fly for many years.
Likes: The colors and craftsmanship of the cinch was really nice. This cinch was a piece of art.
Dislikes: This particular mohair cinch had brass hardware on both ends. After a dozen rides using this cinch, the brass hardware broke.
The prong snapped in half. This happened when I was riding causing me and my saddle to come flying off the horse.
Quality: The actual mohair cinch is beautifully constructed but the brass hardware and prong design are poor. This cinch would be perfectly safe with stainless steel hardware.
Summary: Please shy away from purchasing these cinches with brass hardware. The brass hardware may look nice but it can be dangerous! I would hate to see someone else get hurt! I did contact the seller and was given no refund on this item.
