Equileather Field Boots
English Chaps/Boots/Helmets
Manufacturer: Saxon
Model: Equileather Field Boots
Category: English Chaps/Boots/Helmets
Purchase: I bought these from Dover several years ago, and recently bought a newer pair from VTO saddlery. Both purchases were around $80 each pair.
Likes: These are the most comfortable boots you could ever imagine. The synthetic material is soft enough to avoid the terrible blisters from breaking in leather boots. The insoles are extremely comfortable. I wear these boots all day long-- they are like walking around in your favorite pair of sneakers! They do not have a cheap rubber look like some synthetic products. You can tell they are synthetic, but only after being told so and leaning in for a closer look. Overall, they are nice looking boots with the trendy "spanish top" that curves up a little over your knee.
Dislikes: I'm a dressage rider, so I am (impatiently!) waiting for a Saxon Equileather Dress boot. I have found that they exist in England, but only with a regular and wide calf. These boots calf sizes do run large, so while I typically use a regular size calf, I use a slim calf in these boots.
Quality: My first pair lasted over a year, and then the zipper handle broke. I was able to fix it with a twisty tie from the kitchen =) but these boots are so inexpensive that I went ahead and just bought another pair. The first pair are still fully functional and are just on hand as a spare. Aside from the zipper (which I assume was just a fluke-- those things happen sometimes) the quality of these boots is top notch in my opinion. I ride my horse daily and also teach lessons twice a week where I typically ride several horses and spend the rest of the time walking around the arena in the boots while I teach. They're comfortable and they hold up well.
Summary: I initially tried these boots because I try to be as animal friendly as possible. If something synthetic is available, I will choose it over something leather as long as it is the same quality. These boots are great to ride in and walk around in, they're inexpensive, and animal friendly.
