Purchase: I bought four of the newest style, size 1, Boa Boots from netequestrian.com for $129/pair. This was the cheapest place I could find them, bar-none. I searched a long time. They also came with the gaiters that are not always included.
Likes: I love how easy these boots are to figure out. They're fool proof. They're relatively easy to get on the hoof after you get the hang of it. My horse can now move out with ease over any terrain. I barrel race him in these boots and they never fall off! He has gained speed since I replaced his metal shoes with Boa boots! I was fearful my horse may not get used to them, trip, overreach, etc etc. He did none of the above. He moves as though he has nothing on his hooves.
Dislikes: The only complaint I have are on the gaiters that the boots come with. My horse is a size 1 boot and they came with small gaiters. I think he needs to be in a medium. Sometimes, the gaiters come un-velcroed since they are too small. I have run my horse without the gaitors on and it will rub your horse right above the coronet band. You need to have the gaiters.
Quality: I believe these boots are very durable. Heck, I run barrels with them and they stay on! I haven't had any problem with the ratchet system or cover coming off as people did with the old style. My horse moves easily in them and they have improved my horse's hoof health.
Summary: Bottom Line: They are perfect for a horse you are taking to the natural hoof and are in that transitional period. Make sure your hoof is clean before putting them in the boot. (How would you like a rock in your shoe?) and always put them on with the gaiters. Careful with the size of gaiter you are sent. My horse is 16.1, size 1 boot and the small gaiters DO NOT FIT. I will need a medium. I am just excited about these boots though. They have improved my horse's runs, his stride, his movement and his life.
