Purchase: I bought this blanket from State Line Tack a year and a half ago and I think I paid somewhere between $110 and $160 for it. I can't remember exactly because I was buying other things too!
Likes: I like that while it lasted, I could take it apart and wash it in the machine at home. In addition it seemed to keep my horse warm and cozy even if it got damp, yet it was also breathable.
Dislikes: I don't like that after one season of winter wear, the zippers were falling apart and the straps were pulling off the inner lining fabric. I tried to sew it back together myself with thin waxed twine but it only worked for a little while. It's gone back to pulling apart so I'll have to buy a new blanket before this winter gets too cold.
Quality: The blanket area itself is well-made and of excellent materials. However the zippers, velcro, and lining (which the tension from the straps pulls apart) are all pretty fragile for barn wear and ESPECIALLY turnout. For occasional use this blanket would be fine, but not for a serious long-lasting winter.
Summary: I wouldn't recommend this blanket to someone else living in a very cold area who expected to be able to turn out their horse in this blanket, but I could recommend it if it was only going to be used occasionally. (Of course, if you hardly ever use it, there's not much point in being able to take it apart for washing!) It was a great concept that I think could work with stronger materials, but in the future I'll just buy a one-piece blanket (although I would still definitely consider another Masta blanket, just one with less complicated hardware.)
