Purchase: Online at State Line, they are $26.99 each and I bought 5 of them. Four are in the barn (4-stalls) and the other is in the pasture.
Likes: I like having the security of knowing that my horses always have water! I work crazy hours and sometimes my husband or kids feed for me. I can always trust them to do that at least, but for some reason they were forgetting to water! I decided I needed to do something and bought the automatic ones.
Dislikes: I hate to clean buckets, I don't know why, but I do. I don't mind cleaning stalls, but there is something about buckets, weird huh? So the only thing I don't like about these is cleaning them, but thatgoes for all buckets. These are actually easier because water never 'sits' in them.
I wish I whould have bought steel ones though, they may last longer than the plastic ones.
Quality: They are made of a heavy durable plastic so they should last as long as a normal bucket. I don't know exactly how much water they hold. But you can adjust the floater to maintain the water level. They were easy to install in the horses stalls and on the fence in the pasture. Just hook up the water and you're done.
Summary: It's a sense of security knowing that your horses always have water, especially in the long hot days of summer. They are a real convenience and not very expensive.
