Purchase: I bought this saddle from a private seller for $1195. It had a very minor defect of extra stitch holes that disappeared once I oiled the saddle. I'd read so many great reviews about the BdH and just had to try one. I've had it about one month.
Likes: The second I took the saddle out of the box I was amazed by the quality. The seat and knee flaps were soft, beautiful leather and the leather on the flaps looked lovely and the stitching was neat, precise and secure. It fit my high withered thoroughbred well and was a perfect fit for me. Even though I am 5'5", I have fairly short legs and the flap on the 16.5 saddle fit me perfectly. It keeps me in a good position - I've had problems "perching" and standing on my toes and the BdH has seemed to help that a lot!
Dislikes: My only complaint would probably be I like a dark saddle. The BdH was really light when I got it and almost looked 2 tone - but after the initial oiling, it darkened and is all one color. It really is a beautiful color, I just prefer dark take. Also, the billets are a bit stiff and thick - they are nylon lined which I think will be nice though (no stretching).
Quality: As I said - wonderful quality. I had to use a lot of oil on the underside of the flaps - and I think it could use more, but I was worried about over oiling. The underside of the flaps was absorbing the oil like sponge! The flaps may seem hard and stiff at first, but they soften up beautifully. I really want to get across the quality of this saddle is EXCELLENT. I would compare it to a $2,000 saddle.
Summary: This saddle is a keeper! It is balanced, fits me great and very high quality. After trying so many saddles, I am so happy to have my BdH.
