Purchase: I was looking for a black 18” all purpose saddle. (I hate trying to match brown tack!) I found this saddle "used" on ebay for roughly $350 shipped. It had one mark on the leather, but I don't think it was ever on a horse.
Likes: This is a comfortable saddle! I have had different trainers get on my horse during a lesson and comment on how much they like it. It was reasonably priced and I feel I did not sacrifice quality for the price.
Dislikes: It has two D-rings on the left side for a saddle bag, and I appreciate the D-rings, but it would be handy to have D-rings on the right side, too. I'd rather the weight be even on both sides.
Quality: The leather was soft even before oiling it the first time. The seat is deep and padded. The knee rolls are a bit rougher leather for grip. I have replaced the stirrups for jointed spring stirrups, but that is just a personal preference.
Summary: This is a great saddle. It is perfect for for someone who really wants to use their saddle for many purposes. It is very comfortable on long trail rides, but still secure and versatile in the ring.
