Purchase: Here in New England, I spend 6 months of the year in winter riding boots. I ride, muck, shovel snow and take in firewood in them. I decided to upgrade to the more expensive Mountain Horse boot because the cheaper ones only lasted me one season.
Likes: These boots are comfortable and warm.
Dislikes: These boots are not durable. You would think for the money I paid, they would last longer than a few months. I bought them slightly larger than I needed with an extra wide calf to accomodate padded winter breeches and heavy socks. Even though I never use the zipper, the fabric near it has started to rip. The most aggravating thing is that the uppers have come apart from the soles on both boots. Also, the uppers have cracked across the toes on both boots. I have tried Dafna boots and 3 different pairs of Mountain Horse, both styles. They all break down in less than 1 year.
Quality: They look very stylish but are poorly constructed. I wrote to the manufacturer in Sweden and they gave me the brush off, telling me there was no problem with their boots when clearly, there is a HUGE problem.
Summary: I will never buy another Mountain Horse product. I think their market is for riders who who use them for an hour or two a week, not all day every day. They are just too expensive to replace every winter. I expected more from this company. I have also had problems with some of their other gear but that rant will have to wait..
