Purchase: Although I drooled over these boots in the catalog many a time, the $695 price tag scared me away, as it would any sane person. But, lucky me, my wonderful trainer had a pair of these boots left over from her equitation days and lent them to me indefinitely.
Likes: Although they were very dry when I got them, these boots have taken oil wonderfully and are now very supple and soft, like boots should be. They are actually pretty easy to get on and off. The design is very simple and classic, nothing major to complain about.
Dislikes: The ONLY thing that bothers me about these boots is that the soles are very thin and made of a harder rubber, almost like plastic. They're worn down with use and, since I have bad ankles, don't offer very much shock absorption. I'm thinking of getting a different set of stirrup pads and see if that helps.
Quality: Incredible, incredible quality. The leather is very supple and not dry; it takes oil, saddle soap and polish well. These boots are 20+ years old and still have a lot of life left in them!
Summary: The bottom line: if you can afford these boots, BUY THEM! They will last a lifetime.
