Purchase: I bought it used, only 1 year old, off eBay for about 2500.
Likes: I LOVE this saddle. It has a wider twist than many other saddles of similar cost and quality (ex Butet) which I find fits my wider hips better. The leather is very soft, and "grippy" making the rider feel instantly secure. It fits a variety of horses very well. I've used it on everything from ponies to warmbloods. It does tend to run wide, though, so if you have a narrow or TB-y horse, you may want to use the leather pad shaped to fit under the saddle. The thin leather pad is so nice, I've used it with non-Tad Coffin saddles as well, as it really helps relieve pressure on a horse with high withers. The color is a lovely rich brown, not bright orange like so many saddles found today, and which are so distracting. The dark color looks great on any color horse, and is easy to match to various brands of bridles and girths.
Dislikes: The seat tends to run a bit small. I would recommend purchasing 1/2 inch size larger than you would in a different brand of saddle. The dark leather is soft from being oiled, but it can stain white saddle pads when it is new. I bought this saddle used, thus no wait, however if I were buying it new, directly from Tad Coffin, I would dislike having to wait for so many weeks.
Quality: Well made. Very soft and easy to brake in. No flaws in the leather, and the tree seems strong and straight.
Summary: I would strongly recommend this saddle to anyone who rides in the hunter or eq rings. It's great for a variety of horses, and puts the rider in a great position.
