Purchase: I bought this saddle in 2005 in good used condition at a local tack store for $500 including fittings. Great deal!!!
Likes: This saddle fit my TB/Connemara mare great. This saddle is nicely balanced and I like the deep seat and minimal knee blocks. It has a wide twist which I liked with my wider, big barreled mare and I was able to effectively use my leg. This saddle is very comfortable to trail ride in also. The saddle is wool flocked so it can be adjusted to fit other horses if needed.
Dislikes: When I sold my mare, this saddle did not fit me with my more narrow TB gelding. I felt like there was too much "bulk" underneath my thigh and had a very hard time getting my lower leg on. This saddle is also a little slippery, but it may be because of the way it was taken care of and conditioned before I bought it.
Quality: The quality on this Albion is great! The leather is supple and the stitching is intact. I don't know how old this saddle is, but it is in excellent shape, minus some significant fading on the seat. Not a problem for me. Quality construction!!
Summary: I really liked this Albion with my first horse but unfortunately didn't ride as well on my gelding. The quality is exceptional, and I really love this saddle. I think the wider twist is just more suitable for bigger barreled horses. I still love this saddle so I am keeping it in my closet in hopes that it will fit a horse of mine in the future!
