Purchase: This is an update on my American-Flex saddle. After an initial 'honeymoon' period I'm sorry to say that I have had rubbing and pressure problems with this saddle. I thought I had finally found a saddle that would fit my two horses and be comfortable for me. I sure hoped I had since it cost around $2600.
When I first discovered the problem on my horse's back I tried using different pads and even purchased an Impact Gel---but that didn't help much either.
I'm having this saddle sent back to a saddle maker and put on a regular tree. The flexible panel system just isn't working out for me.
Likes: I still like how the saddle looks.
Dislikes: See above: rubs the horse. White spots developed.
Also there is a lot of movement because of the panel system. It feels sort of like riding in a boat on any horse that is a big mover. The saddle was relatively comfortable on my quieter moving QH but was like riding the high seas on my bigger moving Arab.
Quality: The saddle as a whole was well made--except for the really chintzy saddle strings.
Summary: I would not buy this saddle again. I'm sure there are some horses who have done well with it--but not either of mine. Once we started putting more miles on, the problems developed.
