Purchase: I got it before my first lesson over 3 years ago at an Ace Hardware Horse & Garden for about $30.
Likes: I liked the fact that I could use it for 3 years. And the fact that it was affordable for a beginner. The dial fit makes it easy with changing hair styles.
Dislikes: The visor comes off ALL the time. And the glue on the back of the velcro for the visor melted and shifted several times. It's scratched easily, and when I fell off the dial would loosen and it would move on my head. Recently my horse dodged a jump and I fell off and he kicked my head at a canter. Needless to say, my helmet was cracked. But the helmet did not do anything to lessen the blow of the kick, and I ended up with a concussion.
I don't think it's very safe for any rider.
Quality: Styrofoam on the bottom, and plastic like cover for the helmet. Not very durable.
Summary: Please do not by this helmet.
I come off of horses all the time, unfortunately I was trained to come off immediately after I lose control instead of trying to gain it back, BUT, I have only been kicked in the head once... and it takes once to realize that this is not a good helmet, ESPECIALLY for a beginner rider.
