Purchase: I buy either through Valley Vet catalog (also online) or at local feed store. Prices don't vary that much, $21.75 for 11 lb and $59.95 for 38 lb in Valley Vet
Likes: Horseshoer's Secret is reasonably affordable, as far as supplements go. It's also pelleted, so that's one less powdery thing to get all over the place. And I HAVE seen results-- I began feeding it to my horse about eight months ago. He used to throw shoes and chip his feet all the time, and now I can keep him bare foot.
Dislikes: Don't expect it to start working a week after you start feeding it, I just recently started to notice a big difference in the past month or so. It's good to stick with it though, I think it's helped my horse a lot.
Quality: Although the supplement's bulky pellets means the tubs they're packaged in are big and heavy, versus a more compact powder, I believe that for the amount of biotin and other vitamins in the supplement, you get more bang for you buck with Horseshoer's secret.
Summary: My horse's feet weren't HORRIBLE when I started feeding him the supplement, so I can't say how well it would work for a horse with very dry feet, but I've been very satisfied, and will continue feeding it to me horse to maintain his hoof condintion
