Purchase: After trying numerous saddles on my hard-to-fit Thoroughbred (huge withers and wide shoulders), I decided to try Black Country saddles. I had heard many good things about the company and their saddles. I contacted a tack shop that sold Black Country saddles, and they instructed me on how to measure my horse's back using wither tracings and photos. This information was sent on to Black Country, and less than 2 months later I had a custom made saddle sitting at my doorstep for no extra charge.
Likes: The saddle is incredible. I immediately felt centered over fences and on the flat. It is comfortable enough for flat work, but I can still raise my stirrups for cross country with room to spare. The leather was soft and supple from the beginning, requiring no break in time. I went with the dark reddish colored leather, and it is beautiful. Black Country did a wonderful job fitting the saddle using the information they had. My horse's back loved the saddle too!
Dislikes: Honestly, nothing. I never thought I'd be able to afford a custom saddle, let alone one of this quality.
Quality: The leather was beautiful and supple. It still looks new after almost 2 years of being used 7 days per week (and many days on more than one horse).
Summary: Great saddle, incredible value for the price.
