Purchase: When I first saw these Crooked aluminum stirrups in Detro's (a local Western store) I thought Wow! What an interesting idea....but pretty expensive. The owner told me these stirrups are very popular with many of the local pro ropers and barrel racers he has sold them to. So I went home and did more reading and research and went back and bought a pair of the Ropers. The price was right around $149.
Likes: I LOVE THESE STIRRUPS !! They are perfectly designed and the best stirrups I've ever used. I've had many saddles over the years and with these stirrups my feet sit absolutely flat - level in them. AMAZING.
While I don't suffer knee or ankle problems, the bottoms of my feet sometimes would get sore. That is not the case any longer. Now I can ride for hours and have no soreness of any kind which you usually experience with traditional style stirrups.
Dislikes: There is nothing about them I dislike..
They are great.
Quality: These stirrups are perfect. They are well constructed and I can't see any strength related or breakage issues here. They are heavy enough to hang really nicely but not awkwardly heavy. For those wanting a prettier style, they DO have some very nice models with rawhide braided covering, or rawhide laced coverings and even an engraved finish on the aluminum.
Summary: I highly recommend these stirrups to everyone. CAUTION : BE SURE THEY DO NOT HAVE A LEATHER "NECK PIECE" THAT HAS "MEXICO" STAMPED ON IT...THESE ARE NOT
THE PATENTED ORIGINALS. THE PERSON WHO DESIGNED AND OBTAINED THE PATENT ON THE CROOKED STIRRUPS HAS HAD SOME HUGE PROBLEMS WITH IMPORT COPIES.. LET'S BE FAIR AND HONOR OUR AMERICAN MANUFACTURERS.
