Purchase: I bought this product from SmartPakEquine.com for a little under $100.00. I was looking for something very thin to put under my dressage saddle for my horse that would absorb shock without messing with the saddle fit.
Likes: At first I was really skeptical. How could a pad that is only 1/4" thick REALLY absorb that much shock? But what with the 30 satisfaction guarantee, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I wanted to get something for my warmblood who has huge movement to keep him comfortable. But most gel and half pads were so thick that they would make his saddle, which fits him very well, pinch.
Well, let me just say that I am now a huge fan! This tiny little thin pad made a HUGE difference on the VERY FIRST RIDE! I felt my horse lift his back willingly. But what REALLY sold me was how the pad helped ME out. My horse has very large movement and I have been struggling to learn how to go along with him at the trot. I've gotten used to being jarred around and accepted the fact that I'd never be able to sit his trot (and I have ALWAYS been very good at sitting trots). This 1/4" pad made the ride SO SMOOTH. I was elated when I could actually sit the trot, without having to hold my horse in. I could post like I was riding a cloud, without being thrown out of whack every stride. I can't wait to see how well he moves and I ride after a month!
Dislikes: Absolutely nothing!
Quality: Very well made, it looks like it will stand up to anything. Plus, the company claims you can wash it in a washing machine and also that it will last up to 10 years! I believe it!
Summary: Amazing product. It lives up to it's reputation. I still cannot believe that this super thin pad absorbs that much shock...
I am off to order another for my TB!
