Purchase: I bought this saddle after trying one for a week through Beval Saddlery. I bought it for $2,035 because I bought it during Beval's annual saddle sale in December.
Likes: The reason I tried the saddle in the first place was because I heard it was a very close contact saddle, which was exactly what I was looking for. It's true! When I was riding in it, I could feel everything that was going on underneath me, which made it easier to know when to apply the aids. It puts my leg directly beneath me and, even thought I am only 5'2" with a more petite leg, the regular flap fits me perfectly. I definitely don't feel trapped in this saddle at all, it's easy to get up out of. However, if you need to sit, it's accommodating there as well.
Dislikes: I don't know how it's going to hold up, but the leather is great quality, as is the stitching, so I have great expectations. I do wish it came with wool flocking, but that really isn't a deal breaker.
Quality: Top notch. Almost anything that comes from Beval is going to be nice, and this saddle is no exception. The leather is very nice English leather. Not as soft and grippy as French calfskin, but I expect it to hold up better.
Summary: A great deal for a great saddle! You really can't go wrong with Beval -- great customer service and a great product. You can ride (really RIDE) in a demo saddle for a week, which was immensely helpful. Would highly recommend them!
