Purchase: I bought this saddle about 12 years ago, used, either at a tack store in Colorado that sold new and used saddles, or maybe it was at a tack auction. (who remembers stuff like that from 12 years ago?)I paid about $400.00 for it.
Likes: I have used it on a 15.2h Trakehner/Appaloosa and a 15h Tennessee Walker, it seems to have fit both horses quite well. The Tennessee Walker is a very opinionated horse and she would not let me get on her if her back was sore.
The saddle is wide enough for the horse and also has a narrow enough twist to let my legs hang comfortably. I use a pad that has pockets on the back corners and the rounded skirt of the saddle just clears the flaps of the pockets enough so that the whole arrangement works together, which is great.
Dislikes: The only minus is the slick hard leather seat, but one of my friends bought me a tush cushion for my birthday and my butt is happy now!
Quality: The leather is holding up really well, it is high quality. The stitching is slightly uneven but holding up really well. The stamp on the fender has a number on it, 405, which I guess must be the production number or serial number
Summary: I really like this saddle and have spent many many hours in it. I would buy it again and if I start riding a horse it doesn't fit I would probably pay to ship it back to Marciante to see if he could fit it to that horse, rather than go saddle shopping.
