Purchase: I wanted something to hold all of my braiding equipment and found the perfect solution at one of the Canadian Tires in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.
It was probably a house brand, and was sold as a cleaning tote in one of the discount bins. I got this mini tote for $2.00 Cdn.
Likes: It's just like a regular 3 compartment grooming tote, only about half the size! I was also able to get it in my favorite colour: hunter green.
Everything I need to do any braid job fits in there perfectly.
I bought 2 little spray bottles (Goody brand for around a dollar each); 1 fits into each smaller compartment. I put Quic Braid in one, and water in the other (then write the bottles contents on the top so as not to mix them up!).
There's still room in the smaller compartments for braiding combs, needles and packages of elastics.
In the largest tote I can fit scissors, rolls of braiding thread, a seam ripper and some other things.
I clip my hair / mane clips on the handle.
Dislikes: I'm regretting not buying another! At that price and with being so handy, they're a steal. I've seen them at tack stores for around $8.00 but would be hard-pressed to buy one with them being so expensive there.
Quality: Surprisingly good quality plastic (for such a cheap product) and shaped just like a regular grooming tote, only about half the size. 3 deep compartments. This tote comes in lots of colours.
Summary: A great little grooming tote. When I'm braiding, I just rest it on a (wide) stall ledge or set it on a chair beside me, depending on the set-up of where I am.
At just $2.00 for this tote, I wouldn't feel too bad if it got broken but the challenge would be finding another one at a decent price!
